Who can get involved in Global Entrepreneurship Week?
Anybody. Anywhere. Anytime. Organizations can get involved in a variety of capacities— planning local activities as a Partner, promoting the initiative as a Global Associate, or coordinating the initiative for a participating country as a Lead Host. Young people interested in exploring their ideas and making them happen can do so face-to-face and online—with thousands of activities happening around the world and a social networking Web site to find new ideas at the intersection of cultures and disciplines. Existing entrepreneurs can mentor aspiring entrepreneurs and share their experience at local activities. How you get involved is up to you.
Achieving an economy’s entrepreneurial potential requires every part of society to be mobilized. o Entrepreneurs must act as role models for young people by sharing their stories, mentoring and encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs.
- Governments must support the promotion of entrepreneurship amongst young people.
- Education systems must equip young people with an enterprising spirit and global mindset—from an early age.
- Businesses must offer opportunities for their employees to develop entrepreneurial abilities and work with educators to bring enterprise to life.
- The media must be inspired and encouraged to celebrate entrepreneurship, and inform the public about the economic and social contribution of entrepreneurs.
- Social media must provide platforms that break down barriers, such as language, and enable connections around the world.
Why organize a Global Entrepreneurship Week activity?
We need people and organizations to help create an environment that allows entrepreneurial behavior to flourish. It is important that young people believe in themselves and strive to make their ideas happen, and they deserve encouragement and support. The drive to nurture enterprising behavior needs business, education, government, voluntary organizations and the media to work together—no single sector or organization working in isolation can create opportunities on this ambitious scale. Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great opportunity to showcase what thousands of organizations already do to help foster a culture that embraces innovation, imagination and creativity.

While more than 30,000 events will occur around the world during GEW, there are a number of featured events that demonstrate the global scope and scale of the initiative. Some of these featured events include:

What do you mean by being enterprising?
We mean to have ideas and make them happen. Webster’s defines enterprising as marked by an independent, energetic spirit and by readiness to act. The package of skills we are seeking to encourage are:

- Risk taking
- Resourcefulness
- Passion for ideas
How many countries are participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week?
There are nearly 100 countries officially participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week. A country is listed as ‘official’ when there is at least one organization coordinating the campaign for that particular country – recruiting partners, securing VIP participation and endorsements and broadly promoting the aims and objectives of GEW. Each year, there are a number of countries where ad hoc GEW-related activities occur—these are considered ‘unofficial’ countries for metrics purposes.
